What to wear for your body shape
What to wear for your body shape
Already thinking about Spring/Summer 2009 - well here is just one trend that is just not ready to go away. Whatever your body shape there will be a style cut and color amongst the following tips that you can rock to suit you.
If you never quite caught on to the play-suit which was so ubiquitous in the shops this summer, if not our wardrobes, now might be the time to start playing catch-up. It seems the world's designers aren't quite done with the trend just yet.
In New York this week, play-suits (or romper-suits as they call them over here) and their more grown-up siblings, jump-suits, are everywhere.
From playful, beach styles at Miss Sixty on Sunday to Studio 54-worthy sequinned versions at Proenza Schouler and sexy open-backed designs at Thakoon, this is the trend rapidly emerging as New York's favourite for spring/summer 2009.
Could America's next First Lady be seduced by the trend? We only ask after Michelle Obama wore a Thakoon print design on the night her husband accepted the Democrat's presidential nomination, turning designer Thakoon Panichgul from fashion favourite to household name in just one evening.
Should the White House not be quite ready for the 70s favourite, there are, thankfully, some more 'user-friendly' trends making a splash here in New York.
After a winter of austere, tonal shades, bright, fruity colours will be making a play for the limelight next season, as expertly displayed at Carolina Herrera on Monday morning, where mandarin orange, daffodil yellow and hibiscus pink shone out from a background of blacks, greys and white. Blocks of colour were also in evidence at Peter Som and even Marc Jacobs, who in-between piling his models high with accessories, found room for some blazes of dramatic colour.
Whichever trend you choose, it seems sunglasses will be a must come spring.
