What to wear for your body shape

Welcome to what to wear for your body shape

Just by working one of these trends you will look and feel fashion savvy this autumn winter - work the look that suits you and your shape

Autumn Winter trends 2008

  • Lace - not to be sniffed, thanks to Prada lace has made a huge revival and if you cannot stretch to Prada prices try Reiss for a gorgeous lace inset dress in midnight blue, or Wallis for their take on the Prada dress. All over scares you ? try a touch of lace on a blouse or even your handbag - again look to Prada for inspiration.

  • Tartan - huge on the catwalk but in normal everyday life i would stick to just a touch say a plaid shirt with highwaisted jeans, or a prom dress in black and white tartan ( check out Oasis ) again not sure - go for a touch there are some great tartan bags around and some really cute shoes.

  • Trousers - there is definitely a shape for everyone here - skinny, high waisted or wide leg - what ever your shape or size there is a style to suit you - I would try and buy the best you can afford here as a great pair of trousers will see you through season to season. My personal favourites are 7/8 skinny - get the length right and they will look amazing and show off you shoes !

  • Over the knee boots - tricky one this as you run the risk or looking like a principle boy in a pantomime or like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Look at Halston for inspiration here - they did a beautiful suede over the knee pair that look amazing with a grey jersey dress, the high street are already picking up on this trend - I would head straight for Kurt Geiger.

  • Black and blue - now i know they reckon never wear navy with black but personally I think this is a winner - for designer inspiration look to Lanvin a gorgeous cocktail dress in midnight blue teamed with elbow length black gloves - gorgeous. Alternatively Reiss have worked this colour combo together for that last tow seasons with great success.

  • Plum / Purple - the it colour of the season - you will look on ontrendtrend immediately if you add this colour to your wardrobe - try a cardigan from Gap - and best yet its a colour that suits everyone no matter what your shape !

  • Folk - not my favourite look as it can be a bit English Country for me - all that tweed and wool, but again just select pieces of the style, wooly tights in a jewel colour, a gorgeous knit that you can layer or if you are feeling brave a bobble hat.

  • Statement shoes - Prada did this the best on the catwalk but all of the high street shoe shops are offering great takes on designer styles - the pointy stiletto is back - yippee - check out Karen Millens black pair with feathers on the hell - yummy - or Russell & Bromley's gorgeous flat bow court - I am a true high heels girl but its the season of the pretty flat if you prefer to go low.
